Sapin de noël
I am a regular visitor at Hasami. NAGASAKI for about two years. I have a continued interchange with the local people ever since I made tableware with Mr. Masahiro MORI when I was in MUJI.In the meanwhile, I have heard about the aging and heirless problem among the modelers and painters. The luminaire, whose name means 'sapin de noël(Christmas tree)' in French, was launched by IDE in cooperation with the Nagasaki Ceramics Research Centre for Ceramic Technology (CRCN) and Nakazen Co., LTD. In this computer age, I came up with a thought, “why not make something without the help of the modeling maestros ”, and did the complete process with CRCN’s 3D CAD, modeling tools.Did the project have any meaning for the future of this traditional industry? The result is yet to come, but I think it is most important to keep challenging. I would like to continue going into a local industry and think about the production process from the start.
