At a time when I felt that many of the major manufacturers' product lineups and designs were becoming more and more MUJI-conscious, I was thinking of trying to create a product that was so stripped down that no one else could do it. During a meeting at a coffee shop, we proceeded with development based on an idea that DETO-kun came up with, but it was shelved. Some time later, Mr. Ideto-kun's successor, Mr. Kuwano, took charge of the project and it was launched.
