I was always thinking about the development of Christmas gifts when I was in London. Unlike in Japan, in UK, (cause it’s a Christian country, of course) Christmas is the precious time to spend with family and friends, and many invite their friends and acquaintances to their parties. “Casual gifts” are what are necessary on these occasions. The host gives away gifts to everyone at the party. Everyone saves for that and make bulky purchase on Christmas time. It is said that in Europe and US, the Christmas time consumption accounts for one third, or one quarter of yearly consumption. reasonable gifts
